  • a baby goat is called a kid... and that when a goat gives birth, it's called kidding! haha! really it's true.
  • goats were one of the first animals to be domesticated
  • a goat will eat about 2-4 pounds of hay per day
  • a goat will drink about 2-3 gallons of water per day!  of course that amount will depend on how much milk she is making
  • did you know that there are many diseases contractible from goats to humans?
    ... so be careful!
  • goat herds kept in confinement (particularly in barns without access to pasture) must be de-horned at birth.
Why?  if not de-horned, they have great capacity to hurt or kill each other, since they have no place to escape from each other as they would in the wild.
